An idea turned into reality
…And on December 18th we hosted our first charity drive, Santa for Seniors.
With the help of my AMAZING cousin, Kristie, founder of the non profit female empowerment group, Head Turners Ent., we collected blankets, pajamas, books, movies & lots more, all for old people!
The concept of Santa for Seniors came about because our grandmother lives in a nursing home. We love her very much, so we wanted to show our appreciation to a sometime forgotten, but important segment of people.
The most important thing for us was that the drive directly benefited the community we’re from and live in, southeast Houston.
So after plenty of phone calls & false starts, we found the perfect home to accept our donations, the Mission Care Center.
This nursing home is located on the corner of Wayside Dr. and the South Loop East freeway. The friendly staff at Mission Care Center provides short and long term assistance to about 40 residents, and it is a Medicare-friendly facility.
As the event approached, I was a little nervous, but the love for what we were doing kept me going! And thanks to the kind people that came out and donated it actually went really well!
Dianne Mlih, Activity Director for the Mission Care Center, is passionate about her seniors and appreciated our contribution. What an amazing feeling!
(Shout out to my little cousin, Karter with the cameo. -__-)
This was probably the best Christmas ever and my cousin and I are so looking forward to doing this again.
Special thanks to Dianne Mlih, the Mission Care Center, and everyone that donated & showed their support!
Let me know below how you incorporate your brand during the holidays.
Merry Christmas + Happy New Years!
